Lipstick Plant ‘Twister’ (Aeschynanthus radicans ‘Twister’)

‘Twister’ takes the classic Lipstick Plant and adds movement—curled, spiraling leaves paired with bright red blooms that emerge like a tube of lipstick. It’s a trailing plant with just enough personality to stand out without demanding constant attention.

Origin

A cultivated variety of Aeschynanthus radicans, native to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia. In nature, it grows as an epiphyte, trailing along trees in warm, humid forests.

Light

Bright, indirect light is ideal. Adequate light encourages flowering. In lower light, it may grow but is less likely to bloom.

Avoid harsh direct sun, which can damage the foliage.

Water

Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain. It prefers to stay slightly on the drier side compared to more moisture-heavy tropicals.

Humidity

Prefers moderate to high humidity. While it can adapt to average indoor conditions, higher humidity supports better growth and flowering.

Temperature

Thrives between 65–80°F. Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
