Money Tree (Pachira aquatica)

Money Tree is one of the most recognizable houseplants around, valued for its braided trunk, glossy green foliage, and easygoing nature. Often associated with prosperity and good fortune, it makes an excellent statement plant for homes, offices, and bright indoor spaces.

Origin

Native to the wetlands of Central and South America, particularly regions of Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, and Brazil. In nature, it grows as a large tropical tree in warm, humid environments.

Light

Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light conditions, making it adaptable to a variety of indoor spaces.

Avoid prolonged direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.

Water

Allow the top 2–3 inches of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly, then allow excess moisture to drain away.

Money Trees are more tolerant of slight underwatering than consistently wet soil.

Humidity

Prefers moderate humidity but adapts well to average household conditions.

Higher humidity can encourage fuller growth and healthier foliage.

Temperature

Thrives between 65–85°F. Avoid cold drafts, heating vents, and temperatures below 60°F.

Growth Habit

• Brown leaf edges: Usually linked to low humidity or inconsistent watering.
